Enlace Chicago Community Schools provide wrap-around family programming that promotes academic achievement, skill building, socio-emotional learning and leadership development using a participatory approach to decision-making and program development. With strong community, parent and youth involvement, Enlace Chicago established its first Community School in partnership with Eli Whitney Elementary in 2004.
Today, Eli Whitney Community School has over 350 students participating regularly in out of school time activities. Adult education classes and programs engage many parents and adults.
Eli Whitney parents are extremely involved in the school and the Little Village community. They are the driving force behind campaigns related to access to healthy food, green space, safe passages, traffic safety, immigration and education.
Eli Whitney Community School has provided a space for the community as a whole to participate in diverse and educational programming.
